Flight to Athens

The Süddeutsche Zeitung from 2009.08.24 Under the picture the title was: “Griechische Tragödie” (“Greek tragedy”)

We were sitting on the plane flying to Athens while the forests of Attica around were under fire. We read on German newspapers that raging wildfires continue to close in on the capital. Once again, I thought, after the December 2008. But the December fires were different kind. We sow at the airport of Frankfurt that many newspapers putted this news on their first pages. On the Süddeutsche Zeitung first page, we sow a magnificent photo (from Getty Images) telling the hole story without to need any words. Under the picture the title was:

“Griechische Tragödie”
(“Greek tragedy”)

Anyway, Athens was for us only a pass-through and this time we stayed there only for the time that was necessary for a taxi to bring us to the bus station to continue our trip to south Peloponnesus. “Junioridis” didn’t notice anything about burning forests.

5 minutes before the landing I sow throe the small aeroplane window big clouds of smoke from wildfires over the hills.

Lindenstrasse

Lindenstrasse σημαίνει o δρόμος των Linden.  Linde (στο πληθυντικό αριθμό Linden) είναι οι φλαμουριές. Δηλαδή Lindenstrasse είναι η οδός των φλαμουριών. Πολύ συνηθισμένα δέντρα εδώ. Τα  καλοκαίρια όταν είναι ανθισμένα μοσχοβολάν οι δρόμοι. Στο Βερολίνο, ίσως η πιο σημαντική λεωφόρος στο κέντρο ονομάζεται «unter den Linden» (κάτω από τις φλαμουριές).

Κάθομαι και πίνω τσάι από άνθη φλαμουριάς που ετοίμασε η μάνα μου στο χωριό και κοιτάω από τα καινούρια παράθυρα.

One year after and the next moving is very close. Probably one block further but in a flat with the double surface.
